MAX IS BACK!!! ❤️🐾
After one of the scariest weeks we’ve ever experienced with Max, we’re so happy to share that our boy is feeling SO much better!
He’s eating. ❤️
He’s drinking water. ❤️
He’s playing. ❤️
And most importantly, he’s acting like himself again!
Seeing our almost 13-year-old boy running around, looking for trouble, and wanting to play has been the greatest gift. Just a short time ago, we were terrified because he wouldn’t eat, wouldn’t drink, and was dealing with severe diarrhea and bloody stools. Watching him bounce back has brought us so much relief.
We still have some healing to do, but today we’re celebrating the fact that our naughty little king is back. 👑🐾
From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to everyone who prayed for Max, sent positive thoughts, checked in on him, shared your stories, and kept him in your hearts. The love and support from this community carried us through some very emotional days, and we are so grateful for every message, comment, and prayer.
A special thank you to the amazing veterinary teams at UC Davis small animal hospital who cared for him.
Max may be a senior dog turning 13 this year, but he’s clearly not ready to slow down just yet. ❤️
Now if you’ll excuse him, he has some playing, eating, and mischief-making to catch up on.
Love,
Max, Mom & Dad

Max update ❤️🐾
First, thank you to everyone who has been checking on Max, sending prayers, positive thoughts, and messages. We appreciate every single one of you.
Max stayed overnight at the hospital so they could run additional tests and monitor him closely. Thankfully, most of his test results came back normal. The only thing that was slightly elevated was his liver enzymes. The doctor explained that this could be related to everything his GI system has been going through with the severe diarrhea and stomach upset.
The veterinary team gave us two options: keep him another night at the hospital and see if they could get him to eat there, or bring him home and try to get him to eat in a familiar, comfortable environment. We decided to bring our sweet senior boy home where he could rest in his own space and be surrounded by the people who love him most.
The doctors also told us that while Max was still having diarrhea at the hospital, they had not seen any blood in it, which gave us some hope.
Unfortunately, as soon as we got home, Max went outside to p**p and there was blood in it again. Seeing that after being told the bleeding appeared to have stopped was heartbreaking and scary for us.
But since then, we’ve finally started seeing some positive signs. ❤️
Max drank water on his own and ate four tiny pieces of chicken. Since then, he’s continued eating and drinking water, which is something we were desperately hoping to see. And for the first time in what feels like forever, he hasn’t p**ped in over two hours. He’s only gone p*e. We know that might sound like a strange thing to celebrate, but after days of nonstop diarrhea, it feels like a huge win.
And then came the moment that made us smile for the first time in days… Max started to play. 🥹❤️
If you know Max, you know how big that is. Seeing him interested in playing again gave us a glimpse of the naughty, sassy little boy we know and love. It reminded us that he’s still in there, fighting hard and hopefully starting to feel a little better.

*Currently at the ER again 🥺*
Max recently went in for his regular dental cleaning, but this time the difference was that he also had to get a tooth extracted. After the procedure, we gave him the pain medication that was prescribed to him, but since then he hasn’t stopped having diarrhea with blood. It’s been one of the scariest things we’ve gone through with him.
We rushed him to the emergency team at UC Davis Veterinary Hospital, and thankfully they told us he does NOT have an ulcer. But what’s really worrying us now is that Max still isn’t eating or drinking water. Seeing our normally naughty, sassy boy so weak and not himself has completely broken our hearts.
Max is also a senior dog now, and he’ll be turning 13 years old this year, which makes this even harder on his little body. 💔
Right now we’re monitoring him closely, and if things don’t improve, he’ll have to go back to the hospital for more testing.
Please keep our sweet boy in your thoughts and prayers. We’re hoping this is just temporary and that our Max will be back to causing chaos and making everyone laugh again soon. ❤️🐾
