Sutter Buttes 4-H Model Rocketry
05/20/2026
Hoping all of our flyers will be displaying their rocket at the upcoming Yuba Sutter Fair. The two options to exhibit your rocket will be Youth & Teen Arts, Crafts & Hobbies, Model Making, Class 7, Models-Space and School Projects, Class 5, Display Boards. For model making you can build a diorama. Examples include (but are not limited to) a rocket landing on a planet or moon or a rocket on a launch pad being prepared for flight. Astronaut figures and related equipment are available from me. The display board would be based on a three-part board (think science fair) that would include photos, charts, and text explaining how a model rocket flies. I'll post more info on these options soon. Fair entries are due May 31st. Here's the link to enter online: https://yubasutter.fairwire.com/

Thought we only had one successful in-flight video following our rocket launch on Saturday, May 9th, but I was able to convert the files from AVI to WMV which means I will posting a total of four in-flight videos. Right now here are the launch photos and screen shots from the videos. Our final rocket launch of the season is set for Saturday, June 6th.

We learned about altitude tracking on Saturday, April 18th flying on-board altimeters and using the Estes Altitrak. Highest altitude flown was 364 feet with a B4-2 engine. We are scheduled to launch again on Sat, May 9th, when we'll be flying on-board video cameras.
