National Short-Term Rental (NSTR) is on the move and growing - are you a member yet?

It is true, the STR industry is growing but with growth there comes growing pains and the changes that could be coming will NOT be in your favor. After more than 20 years in the real estate industry I have watched these changes take effect and change how owners do business.

In November of 2018 the voters said NO to rent control. But, in 2019 rent control is alive and well and there will be more restrictions and changes to come.

Similar changes may very well come to the short-term rental industry. I hear from hosts on all platforms that they are currently satisfied with the ordinance or laws that are in place. But here is the deal - don't think that what you have in place now will not change in the future. I have warned against 'giving in' to what seems reasonable. I have watched when a current law is taken out of context and seen how the new restrictions take away more private property rights and I have heard from owners who sell their properties and move out of state.
