He swore he'd never come back to the family business. 34 years later, Dave Hataj and his sons, Jason and Caleb, are running Edgerton Gear as a place where faith and work aren't separate at all.
In the latest episode of the WorkMatters Podcast, Dave, Jason, and Caleb Hataj open up about generational dysfunction, burnout, a father-son surrender in the middle of the night, and what it actually looks like to bring God into a blue-collar machine shop every single day.

Before there was a sanctuary, there was a garden.
Before there was an altar, there was a job.
Most Christians know the Great Commission in Matthew 28, "Go and make disciples of all nations."
But long before that, God gave humanity a different invitation, the First Commission.
Genesis 1:28 reads, "God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.'"
This is the original workplace. Before sin, before brokenness, God invited us to work with Him, for us to cultivate, to create, to steward what He made.
What would it look like to see your job today as an extension of that same invitation?
