🧵3 Things to Know Before Sending Your Quilt to a Longarmer 🪡

1️⃣ Backing & batting should be at least 4” larger on all sides.
Even one line of stitching changes the overall dimensions of a quilt. Extra backing allows it to be properly loaded and quilted from edge to edge.

2️⃣ Square it up & clip loose threads. ✂️
Make sure your quilt top lays flat, borders aren’t wavy, and long threads are trimmed. These small details make a big difference in the final result.

3️⃣ Press before drop-off/shipping.
If additional prep work (like pressing or trimming) is needed before the quilt goes on the frame, it can add time — and cost — to the project.

I didn’t always know I’d be a quilter.

Helping my mom make a bed one day, I noticed a quilt she had made. She was always the first to say she didn’t have a creative bone in her body. But seeing that quilt made me think, "if she can do this, maybe I can too?"

That first quilt was all it took. Quilting became my way of creating, even if I wouldn’t call myself artistic, and it’s been part of my life ever since.

From scraps collected over the years to a finished quilt made with love 🎄

What began as old fabric saved and set aside became something beautiful, stitched together as a Christmas gift for my sister.
