The Classic African American Play “Crowns”

ShinebyJP is truly excited that Community Arts Reach is hosting our inaugural open night!
“Crowns” is a celebrated gospel musical by Regina Taylor, adapted from Crowns:
Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats. It follows Yolanda, a young woman from
Brooklyn who journeys South and discovers the strength, heritage, and spiritual legacy
of Black women expressed through their Sunday hats. Blending gospel music, dance,
and storytelling, “Crowns” is a joyful testament to identity, faith, and the beauty of
tradition.
Venue: The Historic Dumas Theatre, Roanoke | Dates: February 20–22 & February
27–March 1,
2026 | Performances: Fri–Sat 7 PM · Sun 2 PM
Tickets are 30 dollars for adults, 25 dollars for seniors over 65, and 20 dollars for young
