Funny how life comes full circle.

A while back, Winter 2024-2025 we helped rescue a litter of parvo puppies from Feeding Perris Strays. They needed help, so we stepped in. Together, we fought so hard to save those puppies and with our dedication they survived. We got them the medical care they needed, provided all medical supplies, spent hours teaching, watched them recover, provided all sanitizing supplies to their foster / volunteer and showed her how to properly disinfect from Parvo. We took all 4 of those puppies: Cooper, Rosie, Axle, and Duke on the News with us and every single one of those puppies found loving responsible homes.

We never expected a thank you. We did it because that’s what rescue is supposed to be about. Collaboration and helping each other learn and grow.

That’s why what’s happened recently has been so disappointing. When our rescue begged for months , was met with silence, then found ourselves in an impossible situation and four puppies needed another organization to step in, we hoped for the same spirit of compassion and collaboration that we have always shown others.

Because at the end of the day, rescue should never be about competition, clout, or tearing each other down. It should be about doing whatever is best for the animals, regardless of whose names are attached to the rescue.

The dogs don’t care whose logo is on the paperwork. They care that someone showed up. Thank you Kelcey & FPS for showing up for them when we no longer could 🙏

We’ll continue choosing collaboration over competition, compassion over conflict, and the animals over the drama. Every single time! ❤️🐾

The best update we could have hoped for… all four puppies have officially been rescued. ❤️

No matter how difficult the last few days have been, this has always been the outcome we wanted. We wanted them all safe.

These four Shephard / Shar Pei teenagers are still waiting.

Our hope has never changed.

Our hope is that these pups find loving adoptive homes.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a dog to your family, please take a second look at these faces. They are healthy, loving puppies who deserve couches instead of kennels, families instead of uncertainty, and a future that isn’t defined by the circumstances they were born into.

We are not asking anyone to take on more than they can realistically handle.

If you don’t have the space, the time, or the financial ability to care for a large-breed puppy, please don’t feel pressured to step forward. We never want another rescue, foster, or family to become overwhelmed. Good intentions alone aren’t enough. We've proven that. Dogs deserve stability, commitment, and a home that can truly keep them for life.

Sometimes one share is all it takes for the right family to see the right dog.

As a safety net, if these pups were ever to become euthanasia-listed before finding homes, an incredibly generous supporter has offered to cover the spay surgeries for the two females should another licensed rescue step in to save them. The boys are already neutered and fully vaccinated.

But our hope is that it never comes to that.

Our hope is simply that these four puppies are adopted.

What so many people are witnessing right now isn’t just the story of four puppies.

It’s the reality of the animal overpopulation crisis in America.

For years, affordable spay and neuter clinics struggled or completely shut down during COVID. Veterinary care became harder to access. Costs skyrocketed. People delayed surgeries because appointments weren’t available or because they simply couldn’t afford them.

Now we’re living with the consequences.

Shelters across the country are overflowing.

Rescues are full.

Foster homes are exhausted.

Large breed dogs are being overlooked every single day.

There are simply not enough homes for the number of animals being born.

This didn’t happen overnight.

It didn’t happen because one rescue failed.

It didn’t happen because one shelter made a bad decision.

It happened because this has been building for years, and now every shelter, every rescue, every volunteer, every foster, and every animal is feeling the weight of it.

These puppies are not the cause of this crisis.

They are victims of it.

Over the last week we’ve also witnessed something else.

We’ve seen how quickly people can turn their anger toward the very people they believe should somehow fix an impossible situation.

Accountability absolutely has a place in animal welfare.

Asking questions has a place.

Having difficult conversations has a place.

But harassment…

Personal attacks…

Threats…

Following rescues from post to post simply to spread hate…

None of that saves a single dog.

It doesn’t create foster homes.

It doesn’t create adopters.

It doesn’t create funding.

It doesn’t reduce overpopulation.

It doesn’t help these four puppies.

Last year, so many of us were absolutely heartbroken by the loss of Mikayla Raines. Her passing reminded the entire animal welfare community that rescuers are human beings. Behind every rescue page is a person carrying enormous emotional, financial, and physical weight. We should never forget that there are real people on the other side of these screens.

If this past week has taught us anything, I hope it’s this:

Outrage without action doesn’t save dogs. People do.

Adopters do.

Fosters do.

Volunteers do.

Donors do.

People who spay and neuter their pets do.

People who choose compassion over cruelty do.

That’s how we change this.

That’s how we keep another litter from ending up in the same situation.

That’s how we save lives.

Today, our focus remains exactly where it has always been…

These four puppies.

We’re still fighting for them.

We’re still advocating for them.

We’re still sharing their story in the hope that the right person sees them.

Our greatest hope is that one day soon, we’ll open the shelter’s website and see the word we’ve been waiting for…

🇺🇸❤️ Freedom looks good on Bonnie. ❤️🇺🇸

One year ago, this sweet girl knew nothing but life inside a torturous breeding facility.

Today, she’s riding in a little red wagon, soaking up sunshine, meeting kind people, and discovering what it means to simply be loved. Today, we’re celebrating freedom… and for sweet Bonnie, that word means everything.

Freedom isn’t just fireworks and flags—it’s a soft bed, a full belly, gentle hands, and the chance to simply be a dog.
