RestoFest Activity Spotlight: Ikebana feat. works by The Latch Key Ceramics ceramics.

Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arranging. It is not just pretty flowers in a pretty vase. Ikebana helps the artist realize the harmony between the natural and spiritual world.
Creating an arrangement is not just about beauty, but is also about creating a meditative moment for the artist.

Join Suzie Morioka Bertram for two workshops on this beautiful and meditative creative practice. Suzie is a Wakamatsu docent and volunteer who managed the tea house project from idea to completion. Suzie will be hosting two hands-on Ikebana workshops at RestoFest: Saturday from 4-5pm & Sunday from 11:30-12:30 in the Native Plant Garden, outside the Teahouse.

PERFORMER SPOTLIGHT: Elias FS .ffss

Elias FS is a German-born artist, producer, and DJ living in Oakland, CA. He uses various electronics and the alto saxophone to shape intuitive longform live sets touching on ambient and abstract electronic soundscapes. In club settings Elias focuses on the more obscure and heady
fringes of club music to create a raw and direct connection on the floor.

Growing up in Southern Germany, Elias started exploring music through rhythm from an early age. The convergence of relocating to Montreal and eventually Oakland, along with finishing an extensive tour with his former krautbeat outfit Sea Moya, set free a new energy and space for experimentation within his sonic journey.
Long-time interests in Experimental music and the club sounds combined with the introduction to the alto saxophone, created a new framework for his latest work.

In January 2024, Elias started the tape label All Ears Intl. and released the album ‘Neuhermsheim’ with his brother Simon Foerster on Harp and himself on electronics.
‘Into the Glass Portal’, a texture-heavy ambient/abstract techno collab album with Khang Tran, was released on Termina records in February 2024. Recent work include collaborative projects and releases with Doc Sleep (via Discos Paraiso, PT), Glenn Astro (via Tartelet Records), Jerod Rivera, JMO Corleone, @@, Tony MF and Aroma Von Troisdorf, a collaborative live sets with San Francisco DJ ZZ at The Lab and a busy festival schedule in 2025 playing campouts and experimental music gatherings (e.g. Woodstockhausen, Chillits Festival, etc.)
Elias FS is a monthly resident DJ at Village, Vallejo, a Hi-Fi listening bar as well as a resident radio host at Lower Grand Radio in Oakland, Ca where he curates a bi-monthly mix and interview series.

Elias will open .fest with an immersive set underneath the blue oak tree in the garden from 3-4:30pm on Saturday.

For the last six months, we’ve been working tirelessly to curate and organize a beautiful selection of performances, activities, local food & drink, ecological educators, docents from the historic Wakamatsu Farm (the first Japanese Colony in America and the site of RestoFest), local indigenous leaders, & community members from throughout California and beyond to fill this weekend with a sense of possibility and connection that we all need.

In these times of uncertainty, isolation, individualism and extractive relationships with the ecology we depend on, RestoFest seeks to tell a different story, one of interdependence, of ecological understanding and community connection that bridges the divisions between us and helps to guide us towards a future where everyone has what they need.
