Begun in 1992 by the United Nations, this annual observance reminds us that disabilities vary in severity and visibility. According to this year’s UN resolution, “the inclusion of persons with disabilities as both agents and beneficiaries of social development is indispensable. Disability inclusion in all aspects of social, economic, cultural and political life is therefore an imperative.” SAI provides Disability Services, including an annual SAI Philanthropies, Inc. scholarship, alternate publication formats, and its longstanding Bold Notes Project.
