Reno Angels in Rescue

I"m waiting on a new picture of Jake. I have not forgotten this page, I just can't get here. But I have a few friends who have offered to help me work this page. I want to post all dogs in the N. Nevada Animal Shelters.................that's the plan.

Jake was found in Silver Springs NV where he had been left in a chicken coup for over 2 years, to fend for himself. There is a nice lady who came and fed him daily, but other than her, he had nobody. His owner died two years ago and had made arrangements with his son to take care of Jake when he passed away. The son did not honor his father's wishes and so Jake became the forgotten Cattle dog........in fact, I am now hearing that Jake has been in that chicken coup for around 4 years.........why? He was sick. Very sick............I would guess that the owner didn't have money to take Jake to a vet.............nobody did so how did he live for so long in that dirty, stinky chicken coup? He lived because of his strong will to survive. And now, Jake is safe in Minden NV. He has two rescue humans who saw his story on my face book page and wanted to meet him. I knew in my heart that Terrie would see what we saw and take him home. However it was Terrie's husband who instantly told his wife he loved Jake already...........so now, Terrie will be posting a fundraiser for the rescue Jake is under, ABC Rescue in Minden. Jake has a very serious medical condition called K9 Megaesophagus.
His esophagus muscles doesn't work very well so food doesn't always get to his stomach. He throws up his food so he suffers from malnutrition and dehydration. He is subject to pneumonia and he is on his second round of antibiotics now for this..............he has a long road ahead of him and will need a special chair called a Bailey's Chair. This chair looks like a doggy high chair, but it is necessary to keep him upright when he eats and to remain upright for at least 20 minutes after eating. This helps to make sure his food stays in his tummy. He gets pneumonia when he throws up and aspirates food or liquid into his lungs..............so there are many things we need to help Terrie and her husband care for Jake. I'll post some links to Jake's very common medial condition............even though it is common, not many people know about this.

Christa has sent Diamond to Reno NV to her hospice foster home to live out the rest of her years in comfort and with a very loving Foster Mommy named Mary! Welcome to Nevada Diamond!
