Res-Que

Sometimes in life the unexpected happens and difficult decisions have to be made. Jaro, one of the dogs you will read about below, was adopted from Res-Que and has the full protection that our adoption contract provides and thus will come back to us if an adopter for both dogs isn't found through the courtesy post below. At this time we are hoping that the 2 dogs can be adopted together and go directly from their current family to a new family so they will only have to make 1 move and adjustment. In all my years of life, this is one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to be apart of. My family, with very broken hearts, are needing to rehome our two Great Pyrenees boys due to a long series of extremely unfortunate events that have transpired in our life and displaced us.

While we know this is a BIG ask, we are going to *desperately* try to rehome the boys together to avoid further trauma to them. We are hopeful someone will be willing and have the heart and space to take on both. While we know that may be nearly impossible, we’re still going to give it all we can to make it happen. If they absolutely cannot stay together, we understand, and are willing to to separate them to the right individual homes. We are willing to travel for the right fit(s) as well.

Onto the dogs:

1) Cosmo

Cosmo is a 4 year old, 123 pound Great Pyrenees. He has the sweetest face you’ll ever see and a personality to match. When he finds his person, he latches on. He loves to play with squeaky dog toys and run around. He loves to be chased! He has quite an intimidating bark and will let you know if someone/something is near, a truly great deterrent, but is as sweet as can be. He is not a fan of the water, but tolerates it while being groomed. To our knowledge, he was around chickens for the first two years of his life and had no issues with them, but no other livestock, so I can’t say for certain how he would interact, but he is absolutely perfect with all other dogs, male and female alike, and great with cats as well. Up until now, he’s had a good sized backyard to utilize that has had a 6 foot fence all around it, which he never jumped. He loves to cuddle and be pet and loved on, but is not a licker at all, just a drooler! If you let him on your bed or couch, he will make himself right at home! He understands basic commands and loves to put his big ol paw on you to let you know he wants more attention. He is up to date on all vaccines and is neutered as well. He had one of his dewclaws removed earlier this year after he managed to snag it on something, but no other medical encounters or concerns!

2) Jaro (jar-o)

Jaro is an 87 pound almost 2 year old Great Pyrenees. He will be 2 in June! We believe he is potentially mixed with something else, but we aren’t quite sure what and realize we could be totally wrong in that assumption. He is not a drooler like his brother whatsoever, but is super fluffy with lots of hair to share. He is very sweet and affectionate, and loves to cuddle. He takes a day or so to warm up to you, men in particular, but once he does, he’s golden and can’t get enough of you! He loves his brother Cosmo VERY much, and follows him around like a shadow. He knows basic commands and listens well. He is so eager to learn! He loves to run around and play with toys, especially tug-o-war. Like his brother, he’s always had a large backyard to utilize up until now, and we’ve never had any issue with him trying to escape. He is good with other dogs, male and female, as well as cats. We are not sure of livestock-like animals as he has never been used as a LGD. He is so young, however, that I’m sure with the proper guidance, he would thrive in such an environment. He is so very sweet and will melt your heart with his cute face, especially when he gives you the head tilt. He is up to date on all vaccines and is neutered. We’ve had no medical issues or concerns with him whatsoever.

Both dogs are house trained, amazing with kids of all ages (we have a 5 year old), love treats, do well on a leash, enjoy going to the “babysitter’s” (being boarded or doggy day-care), lounging around both inside and outside, the snow, car rides, and affection. They both know basic commands and are truly the best boys.

We’ve left the dogs alone in the backyard for a few hours at a time with no issues, but have never done so inside. If we ever planned on being gone for more than 3 or so hours, we brought them to doggy day-care.

We love these boys more than anything but due to unforeseen circumstances that are putting us in a small space with no yard, and on a property that does not belong to us, we have to make this difficult decision to rehome them and allow them to have the life they deserve. I’m aware that staying with us, regardless of home size or circumstances, is a belief many will have, and I get it. This is the last thing we ever wanted and have been doing our best to avoid, but our hands are tied 😥 I’d like to also make clear, the rehoming of these boys has nothing to do with them, nothing they did, just a sad situation all around. Ryker - The Gentle Giant!

Ryker is a sweet, older boy about 7-8 yrs old. He’s an Alaskan Malamute, about 120 lbs of pure love. He enjoys giving big hugs (kind of like Olaf) and he’s big and fluffy. 🥰
