First retaining wall of the season is officially underway, and I don’t think any of us could be more excited to be stacking block again. 💪

There’s just something about building a wall from the ground up that’s hard to beat. Every block, every lift of gravel, every load of dirt moved gets us one step closer to creating something that’ll be standing for decades.

This year we’ve got an awesome crew behind us, more experience under our belts, and we’ve continued investing in training and certifications so we can keep giving our clients the best product possible. It’s been fun watching everyone continue to grow in their trade, and we’re just getting started.

To our clients—thank you for trusting us with your properties. To our crew—thank you for showing up every day ready to work hard and take pride in what you’re building and willingness to learn. None of this happens without all of you.

🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸

Today isn’t just about firing up the BBQ, cracking open a cold beer, or watching fireworks light up the sky.

It’s about remembering why we’re able to do those things in the first place.

Two hundred fifty years ago, ordinary men made an extraordinary decision. They stood against tyranny, risked everything they had, and fought to build a nation founded on liberty, individual freedom, and the belief that government answers to the people—not the other way around.

Since then, generation after generation of American service members have answered the call to defend those freedoms. From the beaches of Normandy to the mountains of Afghanistan, countless men and women have sacrificed so that Old Glory could continue to fly.

Freedom has never been free.

As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, let’s take a moment to remember those who came before us, thank those who continue to serve today, and make sure we’re doing our part to preserve the freedoms that were entrusted to us.

This one means a lot to us.
It came from the homeowner on a remodel where we were hired by the GC to handle the excavation.
Around here, we believe when a GC brings us onto one of their jobs, we’re representing more than just Sutherland Independent Contracting—we’re representing their reputation too. That’s something we don’t take lightly.
Our job isn’t just to move dirt. It’s to show up on time, work hard, treat every property with respect, communicate honestly, and leave both the contractor and the homeowner feeling confident they made the right call.
We’re grateful to every GC who puts their trust in us.

Few boulder relocations in eagle crest to start the day.

We began work today on a new swimming pool installation in thanks to a referral from another amazing client. We started off by removing the soft, sandy native soil and replacing it with compacted structural fill to create a solid, long-lasting foundation. Next, we’ll install a sand bedding layer before setting the pool and completing the installation.

Once this project is finished, we’ll be moving on to a 17-stall paddock improvement and installing steel pipe fencing for the same client. We take pride in building quality from the ground up, and that starts with building strong relationships with our clients. That same commitment carries through every project we take on, no matter the size.

We’d also like to take a moment to recognize and thank Alexys, who joined our team two weeks ago as our first full-time employee. We couldn’t be happier to have her as part of the Sutherland Independent Contracting family. She shows up every day with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a genuine willingness to learn—qualities that make a real difference.

We’re especially excited to see where the trades take her. While she’s planning to begin trade school next spring, we’re grateful to be able to provide a stepping stone toward her long-term career goals. Investing in people and helping create opportunities is something we’re proud to be a part of, and we can’t wait to watch her continue to grow both here and throughout her career.

As our company continues to grow, we’re also excited to welcome another full-time team member after America’s 250th Birthday weekend. It’s a milestone we’ve been working toward, and none of it would be possible without the support and trust of our amazing clients, friends, and community.

Confined space and limited hours to squeeze this project in but we’re slowly chipping away at the full yard , patio , fence & driveway make over for this home in Prinville. The girls love getting to go help their uncle Dustin aka little Dustin or Tina. A day off really just means doing some volunteer work in trade for some steaks.
