Big Moose Moving

The Big Moose had a Big Move in some Big heat.
7/2/26- We moved 13,000lbs from one home to another. (A Big Moose Move.)
A 5 man team, with some killer stairs at the drop off. (Hardwood with multiple turns)
And....the temp hit 105. It was brutal.
Big Moose supplied plenty of water for the crew and lunch! They certainly deserved it.
But, what really got us through the day successfully?
It was team work, and team culture.
Big Moose has been working hard to build strong teams that care for eachother just as much as our clients!
Life is tough! Moving is tough! It's important to work together and support eachother.
This is the Big Moose Way!

The Big Moose had a small job today, but that did not make it easy.
We were challenged with the task of moving a big armoire down some very tight stairs, and the armoire had to go on top of a banister to get it out of the attic.
We approached this move with strong communication and team work, and everything went according to plan.
Moving is much easier when you know all the pro tricks in business.
Leave the tough stuff to the Big Moose. We got you covered. 💪🫎👊
Random Moose Fact incoming!
Moose are known to take long swims, sometimes over a mile! 🌊🫎
So if you feel like you’re drowning in boxes before your move, don’t worry, the Big Moose team will wade right in and help you out. 😄
We do the heavy lifting! You just enjoy the smooth ride.

🫎 The Big Moose Did a Big Thing.
A 450-pound gun safe.
Up three flights of stairs.
At an apartment.
Yeah... that's right.
A little pre-planning, a strong crew, good communication, and a whole lot of Big Moose Energy.
The result?
✅ Safe delivered
✅ No damage
✅ No injuries
✅ No issues
Just another day doing the heavy lifting so our customers don't have to.

📦 PART 2: How to Load a POD the Right Way
In Part 1, we showed a POD loaded with little planning, poor protection, and almost no load security. Here's how Big Moose does it differently.
Every successful POD load starts with a plan. Before loading begins, we identify oversized or challenging items—sectionals, kayaks, large furniture, and other pieces that will dictate the load strategy.
Strong loads are built one tier at a time. We start with heavier items, add boxes and furniture, then fill gaps with smaller miscellaneous items ("chowder"). Every gap is an opportunity for movement, so filling space is critical.
We also recommend moving blankets and tie-down straps on every POD move. Straps only work when they create proper tension, which is why we plan tie-down locations throughout the container—not just at the end.
To finish the load, we often use mattresses or box springs as "wall items" to lock the final tier into place and help prevent shifting during transit.
This POD is headed to Arizona, and we're confident it'll arrive just as securely as it left.
Great loading is both a skill and a craft. No two PODs are the same, and that's exactly why we love the challenge.
🫎 At Big Moose Moving, great loading happens one tier at a time.

🚨 POD Offload Gone Wrong 🚨
The Big Moose recently helped a client unload a POD, and what we found was shocking. (See photos.)
It was immediately clear that the company that loaded this container had very little experience with proper POD loading techniques.
As soon as the door opened, the problems were obvious.
The load wasn't properly secured, there was no evidence of proper loading techniques, or tier building.
Furniture and boxes appeared to be placed inside without planning or purpose.
One of the most concerning things, a 500-pound marble tabletop had been positioned carelessly in the middle of the container.
The photos speak for themselves.
But the most alarming discovery?
Three razor-thin flat-screen TVs were wrapped with only a thin layer of bubble wrap and placed loosely among other items with virtually no protection. Ironically, they were placed on top of an empty TV Box.
It's hard to imagine a scenario where they would arrive undamaged after traveling a thousand miles.
This wasn't just poor loading—it was negligence.
PODS can be an excellent and cost-effective alternative to a full-service move, especially for long-distance moves. This particular container traveled from Louisiana to Wake Forest, NC.
However, trying to save a few dollars on a move can become very expensive when it results in thousands of dollars in damaged belongings.
In addition, when damage occurs during a POD move, the claims process can become complicated, with responsibility often disputed between parties. In many cases, recovering those losses is far from simple.
At The Big Moose, we LOVE loading PODS.
Every POD we load is approached with intention, planning, and care.
We focus on secure tier building, preplanning, and maximizing space.
We would never leave a POD looking like this.
This is Part 1 of a two-part series.
In Part 2, we'll show you exactly how a POD should be loaded and why professional loading makes all the difference.
