Interested in learning more about Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage? The National Archives has a wealth of material available online about the history and contributions those with AANHPI heritage have made to the United States. Below is a form filled out for martial artist Bruce Lee when he traveled overseas as an infant. He needed this paperwork to ensure he could return to the United States. Despite having been born in San Francisco, Lee and other Chinese Americans had to get special documents proving their legal status, unlike Americans of European descent.
