Frank Vignola spoke on jazz's future, saying, "I want to be optimistic about the future of jazz. Sometimes it's discouraging...I try to be optimistic...[But] there's a lot of copy, rather than innovating or preserving the standards, which is what I love to do."

At the Cornell Concert Series, community outreach is a priority. Deborah Justice, the concert manager said "Having a concert experience is good, but having engagements where you can interact with artists or just get a little more up close and personal, it's really important."

With the lack of checks and balances on different social media, this new digital age has allowed for a lot more false information to come into the limelight and spread faster than seen before. A porch of Cornell grad students, so-called "Yummy Moment" played a variety of genres, primarily bluegrass and closed out the hour with a cover of Knocking on Heaven's Door by Bob Dylan.

Lesley Greene, co-founder of Porchfest (left), recounted the experience of creating this event in 2007 after playing music outside with her husband, and talking about how many musicians were in the area, they said to each other, "This could be a festival!"
