This started as a story… and then people had a LOT of feelings about it, so here we are.

I stopped by a client’s house yesterday to check on wallpaper installation and it is so good. Like… I just stood there smiling.

We used two colorways of one of my favorite papers — a lighter gold + blush in the stairwell and a deeper teal + gold in the vestibule off the living room. You can see both spaces at once, and it works because they’re related but not matchy. Same paper, different vibe.

The stairwell gets a ton of natural light, so it feels bright and warm and happy. The vestibule is cozier and moodier and kind of wraps around you when you walk through.

In the primary suite we put a cloud mural on the ceiling (yes, the ceiling) and it totally changes the room. It moves, but it’s also super calm. Very much a “take a deep breath” space.

And then the water closet — same cloud paper, but with kites. Which feels playful and unexpected and honestly just makes me smile every time I see it.

This is why I love wallpaper. It’s not always aboit being loud and making a statement - sometimes it’s making subtle changes to how a space feels when you’re in it.

Very grateful for clients who trust me and say yes to pattern. 💛☁️🪁

I’ve been doing some reflecting lately — about Swatched, about IDS, about this wild, challenging, rewarding season I’m in. When I said yes to serving as Vice President of , I knew it would take time and energy. What I didn’t realize was just how much heart and grit it would actually take — and how much I would grow because of it.

Since stepping into this role, I’ve navigated more Zooms, emails, meetings, and endless lists than I can count. I learned an entire web hosting system, only to have to start over when we switched platforms at the new year… and then added a third system with Auctria to manage Swatched. I trained volunteers. I organized Swatched, down to every single detail you’ll never notice — because if it works, you’re not supposed to. I’ve written every single event email — including the ones that accidentally went out with broken links or missing info — and yes, I was the one who sent the “I’m only human” follow-ups. (And if you’re wondering, yes, the linktree works 😉.)

I’ve designed social media, made signage, gathered auction donations, and hustled for sponsors — because I believe deeply in this event, this community, and especially in the mission of

And while I’m proud of the heavy lifting I’ve done, I also want to shout out our amazing board and volunteers who’ve helped me carry this thing across the finish line. It takes a team — and I am lucky to have one.

All of this? I’ve done while still running my own design business, making art (), preparing to collaborate with , and, you know, attempting to be a human during yet another dark, wet, and relentless PNW winter.

✨ One of the things I love most about design is seeing the potential in spaces that others might overlook. This Northern Michigan cottage has been sitting empty for years, with water damage and a layout that just doesn’t work. But it’s got so much charm waiting to be uncovered, and for me, this project hits close to home—I’m originally from Michigan, and there’s nothing like those summers spent at the cottage. This one feels deeply personal.

🏡 My plan? Keep the two-bedroom, two-bath footprint but make every square inch work harder. We’re moving one of the bathrooms to create a better flow and opening up the ceiling to add a cozy loft area. That dark, closed-off vestibule? It’s out! I’m proposing a welcoming porch instead, which will not only add charm but give residents more living space to enjoy those beautiful Michigan days.

🛠️ Of course, every renovation has its challenges—like that immovable concrete brick wall we have to design around—but that’s where the fun really starts for me. I get excited thinking in 3D, playing with the volume of a room, and considering how a space feels, not just how it looks on paper.

✨ My goal is to turn this neglected cottage into a modern Scandinavian retreat that feels cozy, charming, and truly functional. It’s all about making the most of what’s there while reimagining what it could be. This project isn’t just about design; it’s about bringing a bit of that Michigan summer magic back to life.

Swipe through to see the before and my vision for what’s next. 🛋️✨
