If you haven’t seen yet, it looks like AI generated music is here for good.
The last time I dabbled with an AI music generator I was super underwhelmed. There were like 5 genres to choose from and the output was tacky and generic.
This time however, my mind is absolutely blown. I could not have had a more different experience. It reminded me of the first time I used MidJourney. Wow, I can’t believe that this is where we are.
Admittedly, it’s a bit frustrating that I’ve been producing music for 10 years, and now an algorithm is better than I am. Once I set my ego aside and marvel at the idea, I find myself more excited for the possibilities. There will be people who can hear artifacts and lossy degredation in AI music, but I think other people will embrace it as we have vinyl and tape static and VHS distortion.
My biggest takeaway is that if I’m being completely honest, I’m likely to rarely listen to other artists anymore once the generation is almost instantaneous. Every sound I could want to hear is at my fingertips now.
S**t is bananas. The cat is out of the bag. Etc. Etc.
Here is the final product from one afternoon of play.
