Portland, meet Ningshu Fang.

Born in Shanghai. Raised by a grandmother who planted a love of Chinese ink painting and calligraphy in her before she could write. She moved to Portland in 2016 and built Asia America Riverplace with her husband Dan.

Working as Shanghai Dragonfly (), she paints with brushes and traditions that are centuries old, with an incredible attention to detail. Now she's the featured artist at Hopscotch Portland through September. Come see what cultural memory looks like.
