Got 15 bales of beautiful second cutting alfalfa from a farmer in Eastern Washington! I’m so thankful to a wonderful local breeder who let me jump in on her hay order. 💚
This hay is green, leafy, fresh-smelling and, best of all, tested! Plus pretty to look at 😂
The analysis came back at:
✨ 23.48% crude protein
✨ 64.86% TDN
✨ 13.30% NSC and only 1.94% starch
✨ RFV and RFQ over 206, placing it in the USDA’s Supreme-quality range
Good hay is the foundation of a healthy dairy herd. It supports rumen health, body condition, milk production and the digestible fiber needed for strong milk components. Grain can help fill in the gaps, but it can’t replace excellent forage.
I’m excited to see how the girls do on this batch. They’re going to be a little spoiled! 😂🐐
Gummi Bear is making sure that scratch post knows exactly who’s boss. 😂
Hormones have been running a little high around here as the girls start coming into heat. Apparently that means extra attitude, dramatic head rubbing, and picking fights with inanimate objects.
The scratch post never stood a chance. 🐐🤣
Mocha has decided she prefers human company over hanging out with the other goat kids. 😂
So now she spends her days running around with the humans, chickens, and the pup instead. She will even patiently curl up and sleep on the steps while she waits for someone to come outside and play with her.
The chickens are currently bigger than she is and are still not quite sure what to think about this tiny bouncing creature following them around. Mocha isn’t entirely sure she belongs with them either, but she sure keeps trying. 😂 🐓
