ReMix Science and Care

ReMix Science and Care is beginning its microgrant work with a focused conference-access initiative.
This fall, one of our first efforts will support Pitt bioengineering students attending the BMES Annual Meeting, while laying the foundation for broader student support across STEM, healthcare, and related fields.
This is where we are beginning, not where we are ending.
ReMix’s larger vision is to expand access to academic, professional, and career-building opportunities for students who are talented, driven, and full of potential, but who may face financial or structural barriers along the way.
For many students, attending a national conference can be a formative experience. It can provide exposure to research, mentorship, networking, graduate and career pathways, and a stronger sense of belonging within the field.
But conference-related costs can add up quickly.
Donations to ReMix Science and Care will support this initiative by helping reduce expenses such as travel, lodging, registration, meals, transportation, and other professional development needs.
Your support helps students access career-shaping spaces with greater confidence and support. It also helps ReMix build thoughtfully toward broader microgrant programming in the future.

Support ReMix Science and Care ReMix Science and Care provides microgrants, mentorship, and healing-centered support for underrepresented students in STEM and healthcare.
Pride is more than a celebration. It is a reminder that students deserve to feel safe, supported, seen, and resourced as they pursue their futures.
At ReMix Science and Care, we believe LGBTQ+ students belong in every room where science, healthcare, engineering, research, and innovation happen.
They belong in classrooms.
They belong in labs.
They belong at conferences.
They belong in healthcare.
They belong in leadership.
This Pride Month, we honor the students who are becoming exactly who they are meant to be — even in spaces that have not always made that easy.
ReMix is building community, mentorship, and microgrant support so students can access the academic, professional, and career-building opportunities that help them grow, lead, and thrive.
Happy Pride Month from ReMix Science and Care.
EMS is healthcare. 🚑
For EMS Week, ReMix Science and Care is recognizing the EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, first responders, educators, and emergency care teams who provide critical care before many patients ever reach the hospital.
EMS professionals are often the first link in the chain of survival. Their work requires medical knowledge, fast decision-making, compassion, communication, and courage under pressure.
At ReMix, we believe healthcare pathways are broader than white coats and hospital walls. EMS is one of those pathways, and it plays a vital role in community health, emergency preparedness, and patient care.
To everyone serving in EMS, thank you for showing up when people need help most. 💙

Sometimes the smallest awards say the biggest things. 🏆
ReMix Science and Care founder Skye Clayton recently completed Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science HCOP, Health Careers Opportunity Program, and received two peer-voted awards: Most Likely to Ask Questions and Most Likely to Have the Most Impact on the Community.
These awards reflect the heart behind ReMix: curiosity, advocacy, community impact, and a commitment to paying it forward.
Skye founded ReMix to support underrepresented students in STEM and healthcare through microgrants, mentorship, and community-centered resources. That same commitment is shared by our board members and team, including Hannah, Alanni, CiArra Robinson, and Erica.
ReMix is not being built for performance. It is being built for people. 💙
Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that mental health is deeply connected to the everyday stressors people are trying to survive.
For students and early-career professionals in STEM and healthcare, those stressors can include financial strain, application fees, food insecurity, transportation barriers, caregiving responsibilities, emergency expenses, academic pressure, and lack of access to meaningful support.
At ReMix Science and Care, we want to help reduce some of those practical barriers. Stay tuned for our Fall 2026 microgrant program, which we hope will help ease stressors that can contribute to burnout, anxiety, and declining mental health.
In the meantime, support is available:
• Call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline
• Text HOME to 741741 for Crisis Text Line
• Visit NAMI for peer support and mental health resources
• Visit SAMHSA or FindTreatment.gov for treatment referrals and support.
Mental health support should not be a luxury. Neither should the resources people need to keep going.
Happy National Nurses Day! 🩺💙
Today, we’re celebrating the nurses, nursing students, and future healthcare leaders who show up with skill, compassion, advocacy, and grit.
Nursing is science. Nursing is care. Nursing is leadership. And for so many students, getting there takes more than passion, it takes access, mentorship, resources, and community.
At ReMix Science and Care, we’re building support systems for underrepresented students pursuing futures in STEM and healthcare, including the future nurses who will shape patient care for generations to come.
To every nurse and nursing student, thank you for the work you do, the lives you impact, and the barriers you continue to break. 💙

April was a deeply meaningful month for ReMix Science and Care. 💙
Last month included two especially personal dates for our founder, Skye: April 12, the anniversary of Ryan’s passing, and April 20, Skye’s birthday. Throughout April, Skye matched donations made to ReMix Science and Care, with additional matching around those two meaningful days.
Because of support received throughout the campaign, including the generosity shown in April, ReMix Science and Care is now at 39% of our $5,000 goal.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has donated, shared our posts, encouraged us, and believed in this mission since this campaign began. Every gift and every share helps us continue building ReMix Science and Care into something sustainable, thoughtful, and impactful for underrepresented students in STEM and healthcare.
Funds raised through this campaign are helping us build the foundation for ReMix’s work and will support our Fall 2026 pilot microgrant program. That pilot will allow us to begin offering practical, student-centered support for barriers such as test fees, academic materials, technology access, emergency needs, and other costs that too often determine who gets to continue and who is forced to pause.
Thank you for helping us turn grief into growth, loss into legacy, and purpose into action. This is how community impact begins, one gift, one share, one conversation at a time.

Happy 29th birthday to CiArra Robinson, our Director of Outreach and Impact! 🎉💙
CiArra’s commitment to community-centered work has shaped her path for more than a decade. She has worked and volunteered in nonprofit spaces focused on reproductive health, LGBTQ+ advocacy, community activism, and food insecurity, and she currently serves as a Partner Relations Coordinator at Capital Area Food Bank serving the DMV metropolitan area.
Her passion for equity and community is deeply personal. CiArra believes that financial hardship should not prevent anyone from pursuing their dreams, and that education and collective support can help build a better future for those who have not always been given the strongest starting point.
At ReMix Science and Care, CiArra brings thoughtful leadership, compassion, and a deep belief in the power of community. We are incredibly grateful to have her as part of this work.
Please join us in wishing CiArra a very happy 29th birthday.
April is not over yet, which means there is still time for your support to go even further. 💙
Throughout this month, our founder, Skye Clayton, is personally matching donations to ReMix Science and Care, up to $1,000. That means when you give in April, your impact is doubled.
A matched gift can help ReMix continue building toward mentorship, microgrants, and community-centered support for students and professionals in STEM and healthcare.
If you have been considering donating, this is a meaningful time to do it. Every gift this month helps create twice the impact!
