Test, test, test!

Whenever you receive new equipment or change a configuration, it’s crucial to bench test before deploying to the field. Today, we are testing a new SDI pass-through I/O with an existing 12x12 router.

This is a maximum stress test, pushing a pathological signal through the router and over a 100’ SDI cable to the test monitor. “Pathological” means the signal is designed to push the system to its limits, which is why some measurements approach the edge of a 3G signal.

By confirming that the signal stays within spec under these conditions, I can be confident it will perform reliably in the field.
