Seems like a good time to post this when prices are rising. It is through community, sharing, and collaboration that we have enough collective enoughness.

Here are 5 ways your trauma may be showing up at work:
1️⃣ Battling extreme impostor syndrome, feeling undeserving of your position despite external validation.
2️⃣ Distrusting compliments from supervisors or colleagues, doubting their sincerity and validity.
3️⃣ Engaging in increased procrastination or task avoidance as a coping mechanism.
4️⃣ Compensating for feelings of inadequacy by overworking, leading to more mistakes or subpar performance—a form of self-sabotage.
5️⃣ Being overly sensitive to criticism or feedback, perceiving even constructive comments as personal attacks.
These are just a few ways your brain is showing up at work based on trauma you've experienced. Despite knowing logically that a colleague's behavior isn't personal, our brains may irrationally interpret it as such. The pressure of performing well at work can trigger your unhealed trauma as the stress cycle is activated.
As Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk says, "The Body Keeps The Score." Trauma is not what happened to us, it's the way our body experiences/responds to the trauma. Our nervous system either completes the experience and helps us return to safety, or it becomes stored (and we find maladaptive patterns or beliefs). This is where a trauma recovery coach can help.
The healing and recovery process involves the body coming down out of heightened arousal. The internal alarms can turn off, the high levels of energy and anxiety subside, and the body can reset itself to a normal state of balance and equilibrium.
Days may come when the weight of trauma feels too heavy to bear, rendering it physically and mentally challenging to fulfill work obligations. Recognizing and addressing the intersection of personal trauma and professional life is crucial to managing the stressors of work life.

To all my friends in the nonprofit world, I’d love a couple of minutes of your time. I’m conducting some research to help executive directors partner with their board chair in coaching their board to more fundraising engagement and success.
Would you consider completing this survey and sharing it with others in your network? It will only take about 2-3 minutes to complete. I’d really appreciate your insights. https://form.jotform.com/221304184249047
Thank you in advance! 😘
