Pale Barn Ghosts

Hello! It’s been quite a while since we last spent some quality time together.
I wanted to let you know that Klaus and I will be playing a duo set on May 18th in Frederick, Md.
Details to follow.

I’ve always said that Klaus Funk is half of Pale Barn Ghosts. And this band could never have any other guitar player.
His playing took standard, Singer/Songwriter, acoustic type songs, and turned them in to something sonically interesting and more exciting. I’ve always thought that he was able hear the “feeling” and “intent” of a song, and turn something intangible, into a piece of music. Not once in our history of playing together, had I ever had to ask him to change a part, or explain what I wanted the song to feel like. He just knew.
I’ve been lucky to have had a front row seat to his guitar playing for all these years. And though I’ve watched him play a million times, I have no idea on “how the hell does he do that?!?!?”. Sometimes, it doesn’t even look like his fingers are moving, and there’s 20 notes happening.
It stands to reason that someone this gifted deserves to be seen and heard, independent of the art he’s generously contributed to. And because he’s never been one to shine the spotlight on himself, I’d like to share this video with our friends and fans.

Feeling the weight a bit. But more importantly, feeling appreciative and humbled to have an audience of friends.
This would normally translate to a panic. But through this band and playing live music, I’ve learned how to turn it in to something else. Still have a ways to go. To become a better human. Part of that is being able to let go. To let go and see what stayed. And I think what will stay, is the feeling that we created something. A feeling? A spark for some fire down the road? I have no idea. It’s exciting to not know. Stumble until you find the door to what’s next. Laughing and crying are different sides of the same coin. Both equally relevant. So absorb them both. One makes the other. No s**t. A mushroom told me that.
Let’s do a little of both tonight.
