Excited to be speaking again for NBI on the important topic of student discipline protections for children with disabilities.
I love this topic. Because at the end of the day, behavior is a child communicating a need. It's a call for the adults in the room to respond thoughtfully to the underlying need instead of simply reacting to it.
Questions this session will address include:
-How do we make sure supports are in place within a child's behavior support plan?
-What behavioral assessments must a school conduct when a student demonstrates behavior that impedes learning?
-What protections do students with IEPs and 504 plans have when it comes to school discipline?

Title IX is not just about equality in athletic opportunities. New regulations from the U.S. Department of Education go into effect Thursday, August 1, 2024 -- unless you're in one of the 15 states where a federal court has halted implementation.
