We just learned of the passing of Sega hardware legend Hideki Sato, father of the Sega System 1 arcade hardware (which was used for games like Choplifter and Wonder Boy). He also had a major role in the development of most of Sega’s home console platforms, like the Master System, Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast. Hats off to him and his loved ones, and thank you Hideki for sharing your talent with the gaming world.

Hideki Sato, known as the father of Sega hardware, has reportedly died Japanese gaming outlet Beep21 reported the news of his death on social media this weekend.
