Hi. Making my own mosaic tiles from scrap glass and paint skins from my fluid art.
1st pic are the dried strips waiting to be cut with nippers
The 2nd is are clear glass over a skin and the 3rd is showing an actual skin
I paint poor on a ceramic tile and when it's dry just soak it in cold water and peel the skin off. They don't fade in uv light and I have some tiles outside for over a year
You can use transparent or coloured glass and virtually make any colour you like
I use gorilla glue to stick them to the glass
** * 4th pic is some random crash glass . If you manage to pick it up in its largest shapes it can make some very cool tiles

My latest, very heavy, garden stone. About 16”x14”.
Thought I would share a couple of tips I have figured out. I usually prefer to use multiple colors of grout, but because this is for outdoors, it is really hard to beat translucent grout. This was done on mesh and mounted with white thinset, but I really didn’t want the white to show through the translucent grout and mess up the painterly quality of this. So, I have learned that once the thinset is dry, if it is visible between pieces or around the edges you can use acrylic paint/water (50/50) wash painted over those areas and wiped off the glass. That covers the thinset to match the surrounding colors so when translucent grout is applied, it blends seamlessly!

Well the glass is now complete. 4 1/2 hours on the shoes and almost as long on the gloves. I didn't want the background to detract or compete with Santa so I have opted for textured crash glass as the background. ...... but all that glue must dry so it doesn't look white but reflects light off the mirror underneath. If you look hard enough you will see the silver of the mirror shining through in the patches where it has partially dried ...... The plan is the glimmer and sparkle will add a little extra magic. I will let the background dry clear before grouting and plan on using translucent grout on the the background
