As AI becomes more embedded in clean energy organizations, one of the leadership opportunities ahead is ensuring it works for the teams driving the energy transition, not against them.
Across conversations with executives, board members, HR leaders, legal teams, and professionals inside organizations, we are hearing a consistent pattern: companies are moving quickly to integrate AI, but adoption across teams and functions is often uneven. That unevenness matters.
AI does not move through an organization in isolation. It moves through existing communication patterns, workflows, trust levels, decision-making structures, and cultural norms.
When those systems are strong, AI can support greater clarity and ex*****on. When those systems are strained, AI can expose the cracks.
This is why human infrastructure is becoming a leadership imperative in the AI era.
We brought together industry insights, recent business findings, and practical recommendations for leaders who want AI to strengthen their teams rather than strain them.

The challenges teams face today were at the center of our recent International Women’s Day webinar with Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE).
A key question emerged: Are teams actually able to carry what we are asking of them right now?
One of the themes participants surfaced was the intersection of workload, systems, and the role of AI. Several leaders spoke to the growing complexity of AI-enabled work. While AI tools are beginning to support research, drafting, and analysis, there is a clear need for thoughtful integration and careful verification of outputs.
Many teams are still learning how to balance the efficiency AI offers with the accountability and judgment that human expertise provides, particularly in a collaborative environment.
Across the conversation, one thing was clear: Teams are carrying a lot. AI is accelerating expectations. The pace of change is increasing. And in many cases, the capacity of teams to meet that moment isn’t fully visible.
When that gap goes unseen, teams continue forward under strain.

As we close out Women’s History Month, we’re grateful to WRISE for creating space for honest, grounded dialogue, and to the leaders who brought their real experiences into the room.
This moment is asking a great deal of leadership.
Creating the conditions for teams not only to perform, but to sustain and evolve, is becoming essential.
