It Started With These Memes... and Me wondering if anyone I know uses Adderall... cause I'm about to try it today...
**Question: Adults!
1. Have any of y'all used any ADHD Meds as an adult
2. Do you have any formal diagnosis/es? How has that been helpful, and how has it been a hindrance? **
I Attempted to write a "short and quick" FB status to ask others about their experiences with the medicine... But...
The magnitude of thoughts, mental and somatic memories, positive and negative emotions that poured out said this is about to be a Real ARTICLE Series about my experiences as a Neurodivergent & Gifted Black Child to an Unapologetic Neurospicy Womxn... π§ π¦Έπ½ββοΈπ... I'm going to talk about school, work, friendships, relationships, and even parental experiences.
If something Resonates (or someone you know should read), please Share this post, Tag them, or comment. I'm not trying to be famous, but I am trying to reach ALL that need my words!
I'm about to start back writing and recording. I got Hella good s**t to say and share. A professional I respect (Arlan Hamilton) always stresses the importance of a good ole email list!
If you're interested in being informed of when I write/publish things, just jot your email or comment and I'll DM you for your email address.
Because of my ADHD and massive to do lists... I will not complete my article today, but the first one will get done within 1 week.
If anyone wants to be one of my accountability partners or pre-readers, let me know!

Tl;dr is a casual tech communication term meaning, "too long, didn't read". It warns you there's lengthy writing ahead...lol... sooo...

Heart-to-Heart
As a and mental health professional I realized several years ago that I AM in fact AF. I have undiagnosed ADHD and I'm somewhere on the Autism spectrum. I always have been!
I realize that while I've finally loudly embraced my for a couple years... some people do NOT even know what I struggle with. Because I'm successful and smart people assume I'm "normal" (aka neurotypical)... and BayBee... I am not, and never have been. Lol If you've known me a while and deeply, you'd probably say I'm a Lil Diff'rent! π₯°π
So... Yup... Ive Coped & Succeeded with My Entire Life with many healthy and unhealthy habits... but it's driving me to inefficiency, tears, and sleeplessness currently... so I'm about to get this formal diagnosis and try these Meds!

**Real Life Experinces & Story Sharing**
My neurodiversity contributes to the "lack of filter" I was known for as a kid, the "tell it like it is" nature I have with my adult, counselor filter, and my oversharing/transparent nature. It's why I come off so "different" or even difficult (to some) at times. It's also why I don't always GAF what people have to say. This is probably why I am so Unapologetic and come off as "free spirited" to others. It defintely has benefits!
Short Story of a Mirrored Life Experience from childhood to present..
Elementary School... I remember asking the teacher to sit in a cardboard box in so I didnt get a whoppin for talking too much in class. Usually I was done with my work well before my peers. I didn't have the tools the self advocate or ask for different accommodations as a child.
Adult Work Life (particularly 2010-2023)... Ive been formally Reprimanded at MULTIPLE jobs for self isolating while doing deeply detailed work that requires accuracy because of its implications (ie., transfer credit evals, degree audits, etc). As a result I had so much professional "homework" that it adversely affected home life, romantic relationships, sleep, and mental health. Many don't know that in 2018 I had an Actual mental breakdown and had TWO accidental near death experiences (yes literally) ... it's why I'm Unapologetic AF about how I live life now and why I'll leave a job, even without one in place.
I was placed on LOA by a psychiatrist and left my school job at 6pm... by SIX AM the Next morning my supervisor had packed up my Entire desk and family/ student wall in boxes & black garbage bags... AND set-up her secondary work station AT My Desk. She showed me the meaning of, "If you died, work would go on without you.". It was a Great life lesson.
So now... I'm Heavy on, "You not about to kill me!"
Do YOU have any similar stories or experiences at ANY age?

Happy Kwanzaa! β€π€ππ
**Day 6: Kuumba (Creativity)**
What are Your Visions? What are You Building and Creating? What Gifts and Legacies will You Create for the Community?
Kwanzaa was founded in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga. It's conception and practice is rooted in both ancient African harvest celebrations and the Black Freedom Movement. It is celebrated from Dec 26-Jan 1. It is a way to connect African Americans to our ancestors and bring together the Afro-diasporic community.
Each day is celebrated by recognizing and honoring a principle and lighting it's corresponding candles in a Kinara.
Day 1: Umoja (Unity)
Day 2: Kujichagulia (Self-Determination)
Day 3: Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility)
Day 4: Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics)
Day 5: Nia (Purpose)
Day 6: Kuumba (Creativity)
Day 7: Imani (Faith)
