Not because they don't care. Because of how their brains work. Kids with ADHD struggle to connect past consequences to present behavior. They live in the moment. So even when a consequence makes total sense, it often doesn't register for them in the moment.

Punishment doesn't teach new skills. It doesn't build cooperation. And it doesn't create the change you are hoping for.

What works is clear, specific daily expectations, structure, and accountability, designed for how the ADHD brain actually learns. When you stop using reactive parenting and shift to proactive parenting, your child begins to build skills and learn how capable they are.
