Peace and love Warriors! As my son and I get ready to head back to JA, we wanted to send gratitude to all of the people in the states who donated clothing and shoes! The children in the summer camp, their families, and many other people in the community will benefit from all the love sent!

The word "mandala" is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to mean "circle," a mandala is far more than a simple shape! It represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself ~ a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds.

Describing both material and non-material realities, the mandala appears in all aspects of life: the celestial circles we call earth, sun, and moon, as well as conceptual circles of friends, family, and community.

We will be having two mandala events for the kids in a few weeks! Many of the children and I will be collecting leaves, rocks, shells, and sticks, etc. on our after-school mountainside explorations. We will make one large natural mandala outside of the community center. We will also be making some with art supplies for each child to take home.
