What does food access really mean? ๐Ÿฅฌ

Food access is about more than having a grocery store nearby.

Itโ€™s about whether families can consistently access fresh, healthy, culturally relevant food in a way that is affordable, reliable, and dignified.

For many communities, barriers like:

transportation,
rising food costs,
limited fresh produce options,
and lack of food education
make healthy eating far more difficult than it should be.

At Project Roots, we believe food access also means empowerment.

It means:
๐ŸŒฑ Learning how to grow food
๐Ÿ“ฆ Receiving fresh produce with dignity
๐Ÿซ Bringing garden education into schools
๐Ÿ’š Building healthier and more connected communities

Because everyone deserves access to fresh food and the opportunity to thrive.

Why did we start Project Roots? ๐ŸŒฑ

What began as a small backyard garden during a difficult season became something much bigger than we ever imagined.

We saw firsthand how many families struggled to access fresh, healthy food โ€” and how growing food could bring people together, create opportunity, and restore hope.

Project Roots was built on the belief that food is more than nourishment. Itโ€™s community. Itโ€™s education. Itโ€™s dignity. Itโ€™s connection.

Today, our work includes:
๐Ÿฅฌ Food access projects
๐ŸŒฑ Garden education in schools
๐Ÿ“ฆ Produce rescue and distribution
๐Ÿ’š Community partnerships and advocacy

From Phoenix to Seattle, weโ€™re continuing to grow one seed, one meal, and one connection at a time.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
