What does food access really mean? ๐ฅฌ
Food access is about more than having a grocery store nearby.
Itโs about whether families can consistently access fresh, healthy, culturally relevant food in a way that is affordable, reliable, and dignified.
For many communities, barriers like:
transportation,
rising food costs,
limited fresh produce options,
and lack of food education
make healthy eating far more difficult than it should be.
At Project Roots, we believe food access also means empowerment.
It means:
๐ฑ Learning how to grow food
๐ฆ Receiving fresh produce with dignity
๐ซ Bringing garden education into schools
๐ Building healthier and more connected communities
Because everyone deserves access to fresh food and the opportunity to thrive.

Why did we start Project Roots? ๐ฑ
What began as a small backyard garden during a difficult season became something much bigger than we ever imagined.
We saw firsthand how many families struggled to access fresh, healthy food โ and how growing food could bring people together, create opportunity, and restore hope.
Project Roots was built on the belief that food is more than nourishment. Itโs community. Itโs education. Itโs dignity. Itโs connection.
Today, our work includes:
๐ฅฌ Food access projects
๐ฑ Garden education in schools
๐ฆ Produce rescue and distribution
๐ Community partnerships and advocacy
From Phoenix to Seattle, weโre continuing to grow one seed, one meal, and one connection at a time.
