"Disappointed and burnt like acid just like Dad did"- Battles Gbmadhatter (link in Bio)
I will never forget the night my dad was on acid getting three demons tattooed on his arm. For some reason, this left an impact on me as I was growing up. I used to spend a significant amount of time staring at my dad's tattoos wondering what they meant. My dad ended up dying early in his 50s, leaving us all too soon. He died from the damage he inflicted on his body from years of hardcore substance use.
My father had many struggles in life, including substance addiction, a search for significance, and mental health. I honor and respect my dad for the efforts that he made to make a difference in my life despite his battles and weaknesses. There was a lot of blind spots, things he didn't see or even understand.
The song battles on my first album I released 6/8/2021 is the song articulating some of the struggles I hadn't faced as a young person and even today. Check it out on all platforms (link in bio).
Just a heads up I'm releasing a new project January 28th 2022!

New Music coming soon!
01/01/2022
First let me say I am thankful for the new year and what I hope it will bring. I usually start the year with study, reflection, and prayer to set my hope and vision for the new year to come. This year is no exception. My journal was cracked open and now is filling with dreams and prayers for 2022.
I'm excited to bring you new music to listen to and enjoy. My new project will be released 1/28/22 on all platforms. It's called "The Rescued." The big idea of this project is I have been brought out of a lot difficult situations and circumstances. Indeed, I have been restored. Some of the songs are just fun Hip Hop tracks; but, even in that, it's a reflection of I am doing a lot better than I was. That is "rescued" to me.
Many of you may be experiencing insurmountable odds. I care and can deeply relate. Please hold on even if this year is already bringing you pain. Pain is not always bad. It can be a great catalyst for change. It can lead you to your recovery and rescue.
Consider this:
"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."
Romans 5:3-5 NIV
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference.
