🎬 When HBO's needed expert advice for an in-flight medical emergency storyline, they turned to MedAire. Dr Paulo Alves and Medical Instructor Joe Brown provided their invaluable expertise to the production team and helped bring accuracy to this intense storyline. ✈️🚑
The episode highlighted the stressful situation unfolding, with crew members confidently and effectively assisting the unwell passenger. Although the outcome was tragic, it is important to remember how rare in-flight cardiac events are (5.9% of cases). Despite all the efforts and resources, just like other situations of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, the outcome is not always favourable as dictated by the underlying health situation.
This storyline also demonstrates the importance of thorough training, preparedness, and coordination in managing such extremely challenging emergencies. 👩‍✈️👨‍✈️
