Banu Onaral

Thank you all for your participation and contributions to the memorial event for Dr. : we had a wonderful memorial ceremony that deeply resonated with her students, friends, colleagues, collaborators, and admirers. Attached is a group photo taken at the end of the event. Our team worked diligently and with great care to create an event worthy of Dr. Onaral (Banu Hoca). I would like to extend my gratitude to Dr. Brandt-Rauf for the generous support he provided in making this happen. I also want to thank the entire memorial committee—Kurtuluş İzzetoglu, Aylin Sagay, Danielle Crocker, Natalia Broz, Andres Kriete, Caryn Glaser, Steve Detofsky, and Shaima Albugami— for many meetings and taking care of endless details in between. Additional special thanks to Adrian Curtin, who worked late into the evenings with me to edit videos and manage slides behind the scenes during the presentations.

We are equally grateful to our graduate students who guided the campus tours and delivered elevator pitches about their research, showcasing the diversity of scientific directions that Dr. Onaral helped to cultivate. They stand as living proof of the flourishing seeds that she and her colleagues sowed.

We will continue to commemorate her and uphold the path of science and enlightenment for life-saving solutions and health innovation that she so deeply instilled in us. I believe she would be proudest if we each, excel in our own works. I believe she would be most honored by our continued growth—in our careers, our research, and our pursuit of innovation—building upon the legacy she left us.
