What Mr. Carlisle and Mr. Griffis may have in common: A desire for this issue to come up for a vote! S.B. 2497, which was approved by the MS House, Senate, Governor and U.S. Department of Justice, mandates a municipal vote upon the presentation of a petition signed by at least 20% of the municipal qualified voters. Under this new law IF the majority of the municipal electorate, who exercise their constitutional right to vote, are in favor of coming out from under the dry laws than the law WILL be changed but IF the majority votes to stay under the existing dry laws than nothing will change. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT SIGNING THE PETITION IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM BINDS THE PETITIONER TO A POSITION ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. While PFAV supports a healthy debate on whether or not to one should vote to come out from under the dry laws PFAV would note that said debate may be premature. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all work together to bring this issue to a vote!
