When one of my past clients, the owner of a $1m service company, first started working with me, exhausting 12-hour days in a row were all too common. Her family missed her and she was headed towards burnout.

• A team member quit.

• Too much of the customer project delivery was put on the owner. Instead of being the visionary, she would frequently do a lot of the daily work including low value administrative tasks.
• The team isn't fully trusted to handle the work. Processes can be broken down into clear steps with the skills needed for each step identified. Then we hire for the needed skills.
• There were several red flags identified over time from the team member who recently quit. We needed to look at the hiring process to ensure she brings in the best, most committed people.
• The cost of meeting a client deadline is too high if your health and sanity are impacted. If you set up your timelines to allow for some breathing room to handle unexpected occurrences, you can surprise and delight your clients from time to time with early delivery.
• Underbidding projects results in too many low profit jobs straining your resources. Instead, offer your services to ideal clients at premium pricing so you can deliver at 100%.
