Thank you Father's Day Rally Committee for selecting me as one of this year's recipients of the Gerald Wright Essence of A Father Award.

I can't begin to express what an enormous honor this is. For nearly 30 years I have serving and supporting fathers and families through other organizations like the Father's Day Rally Committee, Frontline Dads, Daddy University, Focus on Fathers and more. To receive this award this year after the toughest test of my life as a father feels like a major victory. To be recognized by your peers and elders after a year of battles across every area of life feels affirming and liberating. Most importantly, to receive this award on the day of my mother's 84th birthday and have her there to celebrate with me and my oldest son, Eric Jr was the greatest gift of all.
