There are Black poets all over this country writing, performing, teaching, organizing, publishing, hosting, mentoring, & building whole communities around the work, & so much of that still isn’t properly documented.

Cave Canem, in collaboration with Slover Linett at NORC, is conducting a national Black Poet Census to help change that.

The survey will help inform “deep like the rivers…”: a report on Black Poets, to be published in 2027, along with a future digital mapping tool documenting where Black poets are, how they’re connected, & the larger impact of Black poets across the country.

It takes about 20 minutes to complete.

Tomorrow, July 15th, is the final day.
