Greeting citizens. 🙁
We lost a Philadelphia icon and legend today. The amazing Pierre Robert. I grew up, listening to him on the radio. He was always on always on when in the car with my dad. It’s there that I learned about the classic rock greats, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Simon & Garfunkel and the Grateful Dead.

Back into the mid late 90s is when I first met Pierre. I can’t remember which concert it was, but I know we were taking ferry over to Camden. I caught him out of the corner of my eye and I just had to go up and introduce myself. I thanked him for all the joy that he brought me on the radio . He asked my name and said his niece or someone was also named Leah. I can’t remember exactly but my early 20 something self thought that was super cool.

Another really big Pierre Robert memory was at my first Phish show December 15, 1995 the Philadelphia Spectrum. Pierre, to our surprise came out on stage and I couldn’t believe it. I thought it was something so special and it actually really was and still is.

The picture I posted is back in 2018. It was taken in the Gayborhood after the pride festivities were taming down for the day. I’m sure I was pretty tipsy. I was so excited to see him and had the liquid courage to ask for a photo. He was quite gracious and was super happy to pose.
*I don’t post many pictures from that time of my life but this one was an important one to share.

This feels loss really hits hard because he’s in Philadelphian, a neighbor, a friend that you knew through the airwaves. Pierre is going to be missed in all the different factions of the city he graced. Thanks Pierre, you are one of a kind and a treasure to all, forever.
