Bscape - Bucks Students for Climate Action
11/25/2021
Last night, BSCAPE leader Sky M. presented to youth on the real, gruesome, and white supremacist history of Thanksgiving and why it’s a day to mourn, not celebrate. After a critical discussion about bias, education, and our responsibility to constantly challenge the white supremacist narrative, Rainbow Room youth wrote letters of solidarity to the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head, direct descendants of the tribe colonized by Protestant invaders in the 1600s. Tomorrow, we will be sending these letters out to the Wampanoag Community Center in Aquinah, Massachusetts. If you missed the event and would like to add your own letter of solidarity and share how you’ll be acknowledging and sharing the real history this season and beyond, contact us via email or DM!
