In light of the recent media frenzy, here's a short and simple identification "guide".

-If they're in the ground or in a wall, and have no hair at all. Good chance they're Yellow Jackets, be distant and far.-

-In a bush, under eaves, hanging high up in a tree. The nest is such a sight to see, as you know what it is quite easily.
Great chance they're Bald-faced Hornets. Black and white, these guys will put up quite a fight.-

-Hollow trees are a favorite spot! Most of the time they're a docile bunch. Slow but scary, as their size is large. Don't be afraid to admire them afar.
European hornets are a busy breed, as their nest expands the length of trees.-
