Follow along with me @comestayawhile for more budget-friendly DIY home projects! If you’re looking for a new project and want to upgrade your front door, this is it! Can you even believe this is the same door??? 😭 How to paint faux wood: 1. Clean + prep the door 2. Use an exterior paint to paint 2 coats of your base color. (I used Rookwood Brown by SW) 3. Lightly apply a gel stain with a brush (I used the color Coffee) and wipe with a staining pad to blend 4. Viola! A brand new door! To really make your transformation complete, paint the frame to match + remove the storm door if you have one. Our door is fiberglass but you could use this technique on all materials. The stain brush helps you get the wood grain texture.
