Partners For Civic Pride

Friday, April 24th, I had the honor of perfoming with the "Bethune Bears," Mary McLeod Bethune School, at the North 10 "Wall Breaking" for the new, state-of-the-art Health Center in Hunting Park / East Tioga neighborhood! Everyone gathered at the beautiful Be A Gem building (another North 10 enhancement project from 2022!)where dignitaries were assembled for the big "wall-breaking moment! Being a part of the beginning of this great project, the students experienced the "Philadelphia Maneto Message" in ACTION in their own community, very close to their school! Philly Pride Lady visited Ms. Harrison's 2nd Grade class five times to teach about the Philly Flag and have the children learn the "Let Brotherly Love Continue" song. It all came together in a powerful way. . . .The students opened the Program and they truly brought the Philadelphia Maneto Spirit to the event -- getting everyone Flagged! Humzah, announced, "We are the PROUD Bethune Bears!" while holding the Bear sign. Town Crier, Makaylah, rang her bell and bellowed the GOOD NEWS -- "A new Health Center is being built to take care of everyone in our community! Thank you NORTH 10!!!" And Jeronimo, then explained all of the meaningful symbols displayed on our Philly Flag, claiming Peace, Hope, Justice, and Prosperity for ALL, before the entire class sang, "Let brotherly love continue....!" Principal Howard, Ms. Harrison and PPL couldn't have been prouder of these young Philadelphians . . . Our newest Philly Flag Ambassadors!! We sang as we marched back to school, waving our flags, holding our signs, as cars honked their appreciation. It was a PERFECT Philly Flag Day in Hunting Park / East Tioga. Thank you to everyone at North 10 for the invite and a special THANK YOU to H. Chase Lenfest for actually bringing his thoughtful Vision into reality for the betterment of Philly! BRAVO!!!
