Hi, I’m Nala!
I’m a smart, sweet girl who settles into new places with surprising ease. When it was time for my trip to Madison, I hopped right into my crate without a second thought. Once I arrived at my foster home, I toured the yard, respected the fenced-off areas, and quickly made myself comfortable.
I’m curious and confident, always ready to explore. I even conquered a set of basement stairs that seemed a little intimidating at first! After a little guidance, I figured them out, and now I go up and down all by myself like a pro.
My foster family says I have great manners. When they put up a gate during breakfast, I politely respected the boundary instead of trying to push through. I’m learning quickly and love to please my people.
One of my favorite things in the world? Balls! At first, I thought the best game was collecting them all for myself, but I quickly learned that fetch is even more fun. Before long, I was bringing the ball right back and gently placing it in my foster’s hand. I’m a clever girl who loves learning new games and spending time with my humans.
After a good play session, I’m happy to curl up next to you on the couch for a nap. I’m cuddly, playful, and quiet, with a wonderful balance of energy and affection. Whether we’re playing fetch in the yard or relaxing together at home, I’ll be right by your side.
If you’re looking for a smart, loving companion who is ready to fit right into family life, I might be your perfect match!
Love,
Nala

Adoption news!!!!
Ice found his forever home this Saturday, and our hearts couldn’t be fuller.
He was adopted by John and Stephanie, an extraordinary couple with a special place in their hearts for dogs who need a little extra care. They are the same wonderful people who adopted Sunny, the black lab with megaesophagus, in 2025. Seeing Sunny thriving and welcoming Ice into the family made the day even more meaningful. The dogs connected beautifully, and it quickly became clear that Ice had found exactly where he belonged.
When Ice first came to L.E.A.R.N., he was a very anxious boy. Looking back, we believe much of that anxiety was tied to the pain from his improperly healed leg injury. Since his amputation, he has transformed into a much more relaxed and joyful dog. He has adapted to life as a tripawd with incredible resilience and spirit. So much so that he was practically pulling me down the sidewalk because he was so excited to walk and explore again. According to John, Ice settled into his new home almost immediately and has become a calm, happy companion.
Stories like Ice’s remind us that healing doesn’t happen through surgery alone. It happens through patience, compassion, and people willing to see the beauty in a dog’s second chance.
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who helped make this possible:
~ L.E.A.R.N. for taking Ice in and ensuring he received the surgery he desperately needed.
~ Amy for all of the training work and support that helped Ice navigate his anxiety.
~ Mary Lynn and Emily for always being available to answer questions and provide guidance.
~ And most of all, John and Stephanie, for opening your home and your hearts to another wonderfully unique lab.
The last photo was taken while Ice was still in foster care, but I love it because it captures something we had been hoping for all along: a dog who finally felt safe enough to relax.
Happy forever, Ice. You are deeply loved, and your new beginning is a beautiful reminder that some of the best stories start after the hardest chapters.
