Another great creation for the Annual Art Chair Auction by returning artist Sierra Ludwick-Lehman. Come see this amazing piece on Saturday the 18th at the Arts in the Garden Fair. Here’s what Sierra has to say about her work:

My name is Sierra Lehman, and my formal art background is in ceramics. As an artist, I enjoy making sculptural and functional ceramics that feature animal imagery and suggest a narrative. I find inspiration in folktales, fables, and the communities and natural environments I've called home. I love participating in the Chair-ity Auction and supporting our community. I enjoy the challenge of creating imagery that suggests a story and matches the shape and personality of my chair.

The chairs for the “Chair-ity” auction are arriving almost daily! We'll be posting several more over the next few days. In the meantime, here’s what this young artist has to say about herself and her art:

My Name is Moe Rearick and Ive been doing multimedia art for as long as I remember. Currently I'm a tattoo artist at Body Piercing Unlimited 5th ave. My favorite way to make art is tattooing but painting with gouache and ink is a close second place to that. My largest inspiration is fashion magazines.

The second of the chairs for the eighth annual Art Chair, charity auction has been turned in. This artist has participated several years, and her children’s chairs are always a big hit. Here’s what Leslie says about herself:

I am Leslie Arden Schwaderer, CZT, a Zentangle Artist. Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing and meditative art form that involves creating intricate, abstract images by drawing structured, repetitive patterns with ink. Often described as “yoga for the brain”, it is designed to increase mental focus, reduce stress and spark creativity.
Zentangle for me, is created with minimal art supplies, portable and can be drawn anywhere. CZT after my name denotes I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher, with a decade of experience. I look forward to showing others how to reduce anxiety with this art. No drawing ability is needed, and anyone can do it!

During the recent Palmer American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15 annual poppy drive it became apparent that many younger people were not aware of the meaning of the red poppy and its connection to our Veterans. As a result, we have put together this brief history of the meaning behind the poppy and its importance to veterans organizations. The annual drive is over but look for containers of poppies at local businesses and feel free to take one to spread awareness. Donations of any amount are appreciated, but not required. Many thanks!
