Ventura Fire Department responded to reports of smoke in the area of Balcom Canyon Rd and Bradley Rd around 8:51am. Units quickly asked for additional units to the incidents.
The fire was fueled by gusty winds from the East that helped spread that fire across the 118 and into the Camarillo Heights area.

The fire is currently estimated at 8,800 acres. Numerous structures have been impacted

First responders were very busy this evening with multiple swift water rescues for people getting stuck in flood waters and debris flows towards the west end of the county.

SWIFT WATER RESCUE CONDUCTED IN RIVER OFF 33 HIGHWAY IN VENTURA:
At 9:37am on Thursday morning, January 5 of 2023, resources that included the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, Fire, Gold Coast paramedics, and urban search and rescue were dispatched to a reported swift water rescue taking place in Ventura. The location was the river bottom off the 33 Highway south of Stanley Avenue.
Arriving authorities confirmed finding a man hanging onto bamboo in the middle of the flowing water. Copter 5 from the Air Unit was also dispatched for a hoist operation.
By 10:13am, the rescue was completed with the man having been extricated from the river. He was medically evaluated and was reported to be in good condition.
Reminder to follow posted rules and signs, and stay away from flowing bodies of water, areas marked closed, and the hiking trails during this time of inclement weather.

11/16/22 9:50am Coastal Village Apartments in Oxnard. With high winds in the area, a massive tree came crashing down on a vehicle and it’s driver. The driver was pinned in the vehicle due to the extent of the damage.
and units responded to the incident that sent just the drive of the vehicle crushed to the hospital.

06/14/21 Ojai, CA. A brush fire was reported near Casitas Pass Rd near Santa Ana Rd near Lake Casitas. Responding units reported a large amount of smoke visible from miles away.
