If you didn’t know this about me already, I’ve been the student director for the Mississippi Scholastic Press Association for the past 3 years.
What does that mean? It means I care A LOT about high school journalism.
I was once in the same position as these students and journalism gave me an outlet and a sense of purpose in my life. I am so honored to be able to give back to the association that gave me a voice so many years ago. These students are our future. They are actively telling stories about their communities and for some, they are one of the only news sources in their town.
My last convention as Student Director was last week. As I step into the next adventure in my career, I can say with certainty that the future of journalism is in good hands. And people should ABSOLUTELY support student journalism when they can! 💚
