Had a special day on the water today fishing with a long time great friend and past co-worker. Many people from my police family will know Dave Willmering. Dave worked with St. Louis City Police for 24 years and then came over and worked with the St. Louis County Police for 24 years as well. That’s 48 years of service to our STL community!

Dave was my desk officer when I was a Sergeant and also when I became a Lieutenant. We all know how crucial a great desk officer can be for helping a platoon run efficiently, and Dave was the best at it! He became a great friend, hunting buddy and now fishing buddy!

Lake of the Ozark was on fire today, as we caught around 50 bass with 20 of them being keepers and many of those were the right ones. Our best 5 went around 16-17 pounds today. The bass absolutely choked the Apex Tackle Anarkie Dock Jig today, paired with the trusty Bojangle Baits Z Daddy!

While fishing, we reminisced about old times, had alot of laughs and I may have had to get him un-snagged from just a few docks, trees, cables and a yacht. Yes….I said yacht! But today will go down in both our memory books along with all the past adventures we have shared over the years, both at work, hunting and fishing together!

It was a close quarters combat type of day with the bass in the 2nd Show Me Tournaments River Series out of Drake Harbor. I fished solo today and made about a 40 mile run back down river and fished shallow boat docks both back in the creeks and out on the main river. Even though I had the net laying there, the bite was up close and personal today and I decided to just swing the bass in the boat rather than net em. Never lost a bass today. Ended up with 15.26 pounds and a big bass of 4.78 pounds. Wasn’t quite good enough for a check, but it was a solid day and finish! Love fishing the upper river arm of Lake of the Ozarks!
