Hello Sweet Life

I’ve started listening to interviews and books while I paint. This one was painted while listening to “Eat, Pray, Love” that iconic and influential memoir that inspired so many women to ask questions about their lives and sometimes to seek change. Now 13 years after the then 30 something Elizabeth Gilbert penned her soul-searching memoir, I’m enjoying its parallels to my own life now and the lives of so many women my age. It’s time take stock yet again and determine a path going forward. The sheer bravery of her choices and how she made them makes this book, in my mind, assigned reading for any woman at any age who cares about living her “best life.” Painting is my meditation and my learning Italian all rolled into one. Love surrounds me. I’m eager to see what appears on the canvas and unfolds in my life. Thank you, Liz Gilbert! Cheers, All! @ Winter Park, Florida

At 3 am this morning, I heard an earth-shaking thud. It was the sign that our 50 year old oak tree under which our daughters played, romped and grew up, was bound for the chopping block. A huge water-laden branch fell and with it a physical reminder of our lives’ events which passed under its graceful boughs. Today’s painting “The Witness” is apropos to honor our once sturdy sentinel which stood as witness and memory-keeper to our own precious and fleeting days. Savor today because in life the only constant is change! 🦋😘
