Cranes at the site of Turbine #6, hopefully loading components for shipment. Several X Wind Services vehicles also noted at several sites. X Wind Services is a wind turbine maintenance company from Quebec.
APPEC has learned and is pleased to pass along the news that there is a solid 3-way deal between the County, WPD and the Province, it is as follows:
• WPD has agreed to pay for road damages caused during the 2018 buildout of the project.
• A revised Road Users Agreement to cover the decommissioning will come to Council for approval on September 1, 2020. It will cover not just surface damage but the potential damage to road bases.
• The turbine components and towers are sold and will be transported out of the County this fall likely October/November.
• After the removal of the components and towers, WPD will start to break up and remove the turbine bases and access roads.
• Some landowners have opted to leave the access roads in place, which roads that may remain is unknown.
• In the spring, restoration planting and site remediation will be carried out.
• The County has asked that the electrical conduits in the ground along roadsides be left in place, (electrical lines to be removed).
• We are awaiting further info on the status of the substation and access roads to be left.
Will update further as information becomes available.
